UPDATE on Somonauk School LUNCH On Monday, August 31, 2020 the USDA, U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that they will extend FREE lunch to all children in the fall months during the COVID -19 pandemic. Please fill out this form if you would like a lunch delivered for your child(ren). https://forms.gle/Um93fPS4wYtDhuie9 **Due to Labor Day holiday, lunch deliveries will be on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

We will be providing multiple opportunities for parents of students to receive educational support materials from the school: Tuesday: We will have a drive-thru pick up at the circle drive on Market Street (Rt. 34) at the HS gym. This will take place from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm. Parents will drive up and give the names of their child/children and we will bring the materials to your car. Wednesday: Buses will deliver materials to the homes of those who did not pick up on Tuesday evening. Due to the nature of what is being delivered, we will not leave items on a doorstep. The delivery will take place between the hours of 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. We will knock and wait for an answer and if no one is home we will return the materials to the school. We will also have a second pick up Wednesday evening from 4-6 for any leftover materials. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school. This does not apply to families who chose option #2 and have already received a Chromebook. We are looking forward to seeing our kids starting this Thursday, August 27.

A Note From Principal Snider: Good Morning SMS Students, It is 9:30 am Monday morning and the school already feels empty without you! Your teachers are working hard to prepare learning experiences for you for the next several days. Please know that we are all thinking of each and every one of you. Do not hesitate to send any or all of us an email. Whether it is a question about your schoolwork or just a friendly email to say 'hi', we want to hear from you! As you navigate the next several days, please keep in mind that the goal is to always do it 'The Bobcat Way'. I am Respectful of my self, others and property. Treat others the way that you would want to be treated. Be kind to your family members, friends, and anyone else who you may interact with. Be respectful of others' space. Practice social distancing to remain healthy. Say 'please' and 'thank you' to show appreciation to others. Are your words and actions filling other's buckets or are they taking away from other's buckets? Help out around home! I am accountable for my choices, actions, words and for my learning. Everything that you do in life is a choice. Think before you act and make the right choice. You will be given school work that your teacher's have prepared for you. This is your opportunity to be accountable for your learning. Make a schedule/plan for each day. Each of you have different responsibilities at home, so make a schedule/plan that works for you. Find a daily balance in your life that includes time for learning, family, and self. Do not underestimate the importance of daily routines! I am persistent by problem solving, never giving up, and growing from my mistakes. There may be times where you have questions on your school work. Be resourceful. Always put forth your best effort. Try. Do not be afraid to make mistakes. Thomas Edison said: "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is to always just try one more time." I am Successful. Successful people look for opportunities to grow and better themselves. See this opportunity to grow as a learner and most importantly as a person. Establish a daily routine. Make others around you happy. Take the opportunity to read and write daily. Celebrate your own learning. Celebrate THE BOBCAT WAY. We cannot wait to see each and every one of you soon!
