The 8th Grade Basketball Team lost to the Earlville Red Raiders by a score of 13 - 10. Brooke Bahrey led in scoring with six points. Adalyn Werner and Avery Charles chipped in with two apiece. Avery Charles led the team in steals with seven. Kaydence Eade and Brooke Bahrey each had five rebounds in the contest.

The 7th grade Bobcat Girls Basketball team traveled to Earlville to take on the Red Raiders on Wednesday evening. Somonauk came out with some fire on defense, but just could not capitalize on the offensive end. The Bobcats could not withstand the second quarter barrage from Earlville. The Bobcats ended up losing 22-12, we are now (1-3) overall and in the conference. The Bobcats were led in scoring by Ashley McCoy with 10 and Amelia Michels with 2. The Bobcats return to play at HBR on Monday

The 8th Grade Basketball Team was defeated by the Lisbon Lions 21 - 6. The Bobcats couldn't overcome the smallest gym in America. Kaydence Eade, Riley Lackey and Brooke Bahrey had two points apiece. Bella Rolf, Eade and Bahrey each had four rebounds. Bahrey led the team with five steals and four blocks. The Bobcats travel to Earlville on Wednesday night to face the Raiders.

The 7th grade Girls Basketball Bobcats continue to improve over the past two games. We got back to .500 with a win at home Friday evening over Newark 30-8. Bobcats were led in scoring by: Ashley McCoy 12 pts, Cammy Daniels 6 pts and Selena Norris 6 pt. Kira Barnes also had 4 pts and Maya Dalton with 2 pts. Great all around defensive game holding Newark scoreless in both the 2nd and 4th quarter.
The Bobcats turned around on Monday with a tough loss at Lisbon, 24-20. At one point the Bobcats were down 18-2 in the first half. Great team defense holding the Lions to 2 points in both the 3rd and 4th quarters. We were led in scoring by Ashley McCoy with 10, Amelia Michels with 6 and then Kira Barnes and Cammy Daniels with 2 each. 7th graders are currently (1-2) in conference and overall. They are at Earlville on Wednesday. Keep on grinding!

The Somonauk Bobcats defeated the Newark Norseman 10 -7 in Junior Ten Conference action. The Bobcats had twenty-six steals on the night. Brooke Bahrey led the Bobcats with eight steals, Destiny Salgado had seven steals and Avery Charles had five steals in the contest. Kaydence Eade led the scoring with four points while pulling down five rebounds. The Bobcats travel tonight to Lisbon.

The Somonauk Bobcats defeated the Paw Paw Bulldogs in the opening night of Junior 10 Conference play by a score of 43 - 14. The Bobcats outscored the Bulldogs 16-0 in the fourth quarter to solidify the victory. The Bobcats had balanced scoring throughout the contest. Brooke Bahrey led all scores with eleven points. Avery Charles had ten points. Junia Johnson and Addy Werner had six points apiece. Bella Rolf and Kaydence Eade chipped in with four points each and Emma Rominski capped it off with a bucket. Eade cleared the boards with twelve rebounds. Werner and Charles led the defense with four steals apiece. Werner, Bahrey and Charles dished out eleven assists combined, in the victory. The Bobcats play rival Newark in our first home game on Friday. Come out and support your Bobcats!

The Somonauk Bobcat 7th grade Girls Basketball team opened up Junior 10 Conference play and their season at Paw Paw on Wednesday evening, falling 22-18 to the Bulldogs. The Bobcats were led in scoring by Ashley McCoy with 16 and Malorie Wernsman with 2. The Bobcats had some opening game jitters that were getting worked out by the second half. Other players that spurred the Bobcat's defensive effort were Cammy Daniels and Selena Norris. The Bobcats will have their first home game on Friday against Newark at 4:30 pm. The girls look forward to seeing the support of the BLUE CREW for their games.

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team defeated the Hinckley-Big Rock Royals by a score of 29 - 19, to solidify third place in the Junior 10 Tournament. Defense was the key last night stifling HBR's offense. Solid defensive performances were contributed by Caden Hamer, Brady Andrews, Landon Johnson and Alex Barnes. Barnes led the team in rebounds with nine, on the night. Johnson led all scoring with fourteen points including four three pointers. Andrews had seven points, three assists and five rebounds. Kaden Geers cleared the defensive boards with six rebounds and Jeremy Romnski pulled down four rebounds. Tristan Reed tied for the team lead with three assists. A solid team effort throughout the evening solidified the win and an overall record of 16 - 6. It was a pleasure to coach these gentlemen throughout the season.
Also, a big congratulations to the Cheerleaders for an undefeated season.

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball team lost to Leland by a score of 31 - 25. The Bobcats had 22 turnovers on the night and only 21 shots. Landon Johnson led the Bobcats in scoring with sixteen points including 3 three pointers. Kaden Geers led the team in rebounds with five. Brady Andrews dished out five assists and led the team in steals with three. The Bobcats will face Hinckley-Big Rock in the 3rd Place game at 4:30, in the Vintage Gym, at Serena this afternoon.

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team defeated the Serena Huskers in Quarterfinal action by a score of 42 - 23. Landon Johnson led all scores with seventeen points. Johnson also had three rebounds, three assists and three steals, on the night. Kaden Geers had eleven points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Brady Andrews had six points and three rebounds. Jeremy Rominski had four points and three rebounds. Alex Barnes led the Bobcats in rebounds with six. The Bobcats will now play number two ranked Leland on Wednesday, at 5:30 in the semi-finals.

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team placed third out of eight in the Al Stegman Tournament in Serena, on Friday and Saturday. The Bobcats defeated Milton Pope by a score of 32 - 16, on Friday to move into the Winners Bracket. On Saturday, the Bobcats lost to Mendota 31 - 22, in the semi-finals. In the third place game, the Bobcats defeated Serena by the score of 29 - 18. In the three games of the tournament the Bobcats were led by Landon Johnson who had thirty-eight points. Brady Andrews in the three games had ten steals. Kaden Geers within the three games had a total of twenty-four rebounds. Geers, Andrews and Jeremy Rominski had five assists each, combined within the tournament. The Bobcats will be playing in the first round of the Junior Ten Tournament on Monday versus the host school Serena at 6:30 PM tonight. Currently, the Bobcats are 14 -5 on the season.

The Eighth Grade Boys Basketball Team lost to the undefeated Indian Creek Timberwolves last night by a score of 40 - 23. Tristan Reed led the Bobcats with thirteen points including 3 three pointers, while pulling down five rebounds. Landon Johnson chipped in with eight points including four for four from the free throw line. Kaden Geers led the Bobcats with ten rebounds, while Jeremy Rominksi and Alex Barnes combined for ten rebounds. Brady Andrews led the Bobcats in assists and steals with three each. Turnovers and backdoor cuts hurt the Bobcats throughout the night. The Bobcats were able to pull within three late in the third quarter but weren't able to finish strong, in the fourth quarter.

Last night the 7th grade boys basketball team dropped their final game to Indian Creek, 30-20. Connor Knutson had 13 points, Wyatt Hannibal had 5 points and Carson Harper had 2 points. Kellan Howell did a great job of moving the ball offensively while Evan Cappi and James Havlicek gave great effort on the defensive end.
Coach Poplawski would like to thank the boys for a great season and extend a special thank you to team managers Malorie Wernsman and Shaynee King.

The Bobcats were led by Landon Johnson who had ten points, four steals, four rebounds and four assists. Brady Andrews had nine points, six steals and five assists. Tristan Reed had eight points. Kaden Geers pulled down five rebounds and Jeremy Rominski led the Bobcats in rebounds with seven along with two steals. Owen Hopkins and Dane Lenhardt also had two steals apiece. The Bobcats travel to Indian Creek on Wednesday to avenge a 40 - 37 loss, from last month.
